A poem on floods
By Abhiroop kaur mann
Flood waters rise, the rivers overflow,
The current is strong, the winds do blow.
Houses are washed away, trees uprooted,
People panic, lives disrupted.
The flood is a force of nature,
It spares no one, rich or poor.
It brings destruction, sorrow and pain,
Leaves behind memories of loss and strain.
Yet, amidst this tragedy,
We see humanity in all its glory.
People come together, to lend a helping hand,
To support, to aid, to help their fellow man.
The flood may take away material things,
But it cannot take away the courage within.
We fight back with resilience and hope,
We overcome, we cope.
So when the flood comes raging in,
When the waters rise and the storm begins,
We stand tall, we stand strong,
Knowing that together, we will emerge from the flood, lifelong.
