Poem on motherhood

By Abhiroop kaur mann

From the first flutter of life,

That I felt in my womb,

I knew that my world

Would never again be the same.

From the moment I held you

In my arms for the first time,

I felt a love so intense

That it was almost beyond pain.

The sleepless nights, the endless diapers,

The first steps, the first words,

The triumphs and the tears,

All blended into one endless dance.

As you grew, so did I,

Learning to see the world

Through your eyes as well as mine,

Learning to be both teacher and student.

There were moments of doubt and fear,

Of frustration and anger,

But they always gave way

To a deeper understanding and a greater love.

Now you are starting out on your own,

And I marvel at the beauty of it all,

The wonder of the journey we have taken,

And the joy of knowing that I will always be your mother.
